The stove is set up to give a complete burn of the fuel. The gas grill is not, so produces carbon monoxide, which is not good for humans or pets. Some wall heaters require venting and some do not because of the same thing.
You might try a camping store for the small burners, check if they are rated for indoor use. If not, you can still use them as long as you have good cross ventilation and fresh air coming in.

Your gas stove has a hood vent or a down draft vent that you use while cooking.
All fuels give off Carbon Monoxide, which is orderless, colorless, tasteless gas and it kills a lot of people every year, especially if there has been a prolonged power outage, for people try to use these for heat and cooking inside. It bonds to the red blood cells over 200 time more effectively than Oxygen. So over time, and it doesn’t take long, your blood get all plugged up with Carbon Monoxide, and it takes even longer to get rid of the Carbon Monoxide, for the red blood cells don’t want to give the Carbon Monoxide up.
Carbon Monoxide or CO is not the same as CO2, or carbon dioxide, which is what you give off when you Breath out.

Burning propane and natural gas indoors isn’t the problem, its burning it in an area with low ventillation that causes problems. When propane and natural gas burn it produces noxious gasses that can make you ill or even kill you if they are not ventilated. Letting your car or lawn mover idle in a garage with the garage doors closed can do the same thing.

u don’t cook food directly on the flame of a gas stove’s burner, u use pots & pans, u do cook food on a gas grill’s flame so grease tends to flare up.
portable gas burner – go to outdoor camping store/dept. get a coleman stove.
